Who's having the last laugh?
This article Link caught my attention today morning. It spoke of a military parade where Iran showed off its range of ballistic missiles , with the rockets draped in banners vowing to "crush America" and "wipe Israel off the map".
And all this with the talk of the Israelis saying that the Iranians could have at least 5 nuclear warheads by 2007. With the current Iranian decision to continue with uranium enrichment and consequent inspection delaying tactics, this could well be true.
Who knows, we could have a nuclear catastrophe some years down the road wherein some 'mad mullah' presses the nuclear trigger and attempts to take out the US or Israel.
Where do the Russians fall into all this? I do not just intend to title my article after them for the technical help that they 'allegedly' gave the Iranians with their nuclear program. I meant the Afghan war (US/Mujahiden Vs. Soviets/Najibullah) where the Americans emerged 'Victors' and which supposedly led to the break up of the Soviet Union.
If the Afghan war had not happened and the Americans had not interfered there :
1.) Osama and his cronies (Taliban for e.g.) would not have taken upon themselves the credit of beating a world class army. The Mujahideen have NEVER given credit to the US for their victory agains the Soviets. The US was only a tool to serve Allah's wishes.
2.) Pakistan (main supply and training base for the Mujahideen) would not have been given a free run to beg/borrow/steal technology for the nuclear bomb, much of which has now been passed to N. Korea and Iran through Dr. A.Q. Khan, the father of their nuclear program.
3.) The Indian sub-continent would not have been a nuclear flash point.
4.) The Wahabi movement(financed by the Saudis) would not have it's supply of foot soldiers and Americans wouldn't be having their heads lopped off in Iraq.
5.) Perhaps the commies would still have been around. But would this be so bad a deal as with what we are getting now?
Maybe the communists are having the last laugh now....
